Description
The survey was conducted within the project “Preconditions of Authentic Youth Participation in Formal and Non-Formal Education” (UNFRAMED) (No. VPP-IZM-Izglītība-2023/6-0002), which is funded by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Latvia under the State Research Programme “Education” (2023–2026). The State Research Programme is administered by the Latvian Council of Science. The data collection method is a quantitative online survey among representatives of student self-governments in educational institutions (pupils and students) and youth councils at the municipalities.

Notes Target group: Young people aged 13–25 who are active in pupil and student self-governments and in municipal youth councils. Sampling method: Purposive sampling was used, including young people who are actively involved in participation structures - pupil and student self-governments as well as municipal youth councils. This type of sampling was chosen to gain an in-depth understanding of young people’s participation experiences and motivations, which could not be adequately captured using only a randomly selected group of respondents. The results allow for a comparison between the perspectives of actively engaged youth and those of the general youth population regarding participation processes. Number of respondents: 242 Note: Incomplete questionnaires were also included in the data analysis; therefore, the base number of respondents in the data tables varies.
